This document contains a set of statements from existing codes of ethics that participants in the first workshop at ICTD 2016 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA marked up in red. The red highlighter indicates that the reader was concerned that these statements should NOT be included in a code of ethics for ICTD research.

Please read the statements carefully and consider whether you agree with the previous reader.

Please comment on this page if you think there is an important point in the document that SHOULD be included in an ethical code for ICTD research.

Other pages deal with statements that were:

  • Endorsed: consisting of statements that were marked up in green or yellow indicating support from the reader.
  • Raised for discussion: a list of statements and comments that were marked up in blue or purple indicating that these issues need careful thought in ICTD ethics.
